Is there a nurse in your life that could use a literal breath of fresh air after experiencing the most trying year of their professional career? After months of nothing but “eat, sleep, nurse, repeat” (often without sleep) these cherished healthcare workers rarely get a moment to decompress.
Studies have verified that their shift work and long work hours increase the risk for personal injury and a wide range of chronic ailments. Then there’s the mental and emotional toll, which has become an exasperated problem in 2020-21. A new study from the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU) revealed shocking levels of mental illness among Canada’s nurses, with well over one-third screening positive for a major depressive disorder. So as you can see, it wasn’t hard choosing nurses for our stand up paddle board (SUP) giveaway. If anyone can use a break and spend time in the ever-healing outdoors, it’s them.
The challenge however, is getting them to actually enter a contest. They are so selfless that they don’t consider themselves as much as they need to, which is why we’re calling upon YOU. Who is Eligible?
Any current nurse in Canada or US that is willing to get out there and enjoy the prize. From White Rock in B.C. to Cape Spear in St. John’s N.L, Santa Cruz CA to Miami Fl. we are ready to ship the ISUP for free to wherever they may be.
